HUD property/Subsidized Housing- Majority of property consists of
single-parent families, there are a few senior residents on site.
Message from the Coordinator: 
Gulf Coast Arms is a unique property. The property consists of 166
units and there are well over 250 children on site. My goal while at
Gulf Coast Arms is to increase resident participation.
There are
several helpful programs (computer courses, self-sufficiency seminars,
job training, resume writing, etc.) that are offered on site to enhance
the lifestyles of the residents. My primary goal is to get the
residents to participate in these programs to better themselves
spiritually and economically. Target populations in the complex include
single adults with children, aging adults, and youth and young adults.
Resident Spotlight:
-
Assisted
a student to return to her correct grade level in school.

Assisted
a family of 5 with clothes, shoes, temporary housing, blankets,
toiletries, etc. after they lost everything in an apartment fire.

Have a
young gentleman who is currently enrolled at Houston Community College
GED  program that was totally against returning to
school to complete his GED (motivation and helping him find the good
qualities that he possessed helped with his decision)

Two
residents that participated in the resume assistance-job training
course are now full-time employees with the Reliant Event Center.

Assisted
a resident in getting adequate health care for her and her unborn
child. (Helped her understand that she had other options and choices).
